The Safety Coordinator is responsible for leading safety and regulatory compliance efforts across the organization. This role oversees the planning, implementation, and monitoring of workplace safety programs to ensure a safe, healthy, and compliant environment. The Safety Coordinator actively promotes a strong safety culture aligned with Positronic’s core values by developing, training, and engaging employees on safety practices and addressing industry-specific hazards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and other applicable regulations.
- Maintain accurate OSHA documentation and lead incident reporting, investigations, and root cause analysis.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and follow-up actions.
- Partner with supervisors and departments to enforce safety procedures related to equipment, machine guarding, LOTO, and working at heights.
- Develop, update, and communicate safety policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Lead safety orientation for new hires and oversee ongoing safety training for all employees.
- Coordinate the safety committee and promote a strong, proactive safety culture.
- Manage safety data, reports, and documentation including SDS, JSAs, and LOTO instructions.
- Oversee the workers’ compensation and return-to-work process.
- Uphold Positronic’s standards of integrity, quality, and operational excellence.
- Identify hazards in the workplace and report them to management and/or the safety coordinator.
- Collaborate with the EHS department to meet local, state, and federal regulatory requirements, including OSHA, NFPA, DNR, EPA, and Amphenol sustainability practices.
- Work with the Quality department to ensure compliance with AS9100 certification standards.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in safety or a related field OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience
Physical
- Frequent walking and standing.
- Occasional climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling, crawling, pushing, and reaching.
- Regular use of computers requiring hand and finger dexterity.
- Occasional use of hand tools and power equipment.
- Must be able to identify color-coded safety labels.
- Must wear personal protective equipment (e.g., safety glasses, gloves) as required.
- Frequently lift up to 20 pounds; occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
Working Conditions
This position may involve exposure to loud elevated noise levels, dust or airborne particles, and chemical substances in a manufacturing environment.
