Heart of America ASSP Hybrid Workshop

Topic How Safe Is That Safety Belt:  Fall Protection Awareness

This 3-hour workshop will discuss the state of the fall protection methods used to prevent injury to employees from falls from an upper level.

“How Safe Is That Safety Belt was the title of my first training video published over twenty-five years ago. Unfortunately, although the products have improved since then, the number of fatal falls has not significantly changed. I believe a major reason for this is the continuation of programs used in the past. Maybe it is time for a change! Perhaps a dependence upon a harness and a lanyard is not the best way to protect your workers.”

Objectives

  • History of Fall Protection
  • Fall Statistics
  • Summary of OSHA and ANSI Standards
  • The concept of ACE
  • Hierarchy of Fall Protection
  • Alternatives to ladders and fall protection equipment
